If I had to face fear I would stand up and tell it try me. I will not back down.

"I GOT YOU!!!"

-JRob

Fear is nothing more than an inability of facing your true self. I would look fear in the eye and say "I am no afraid you. I am more powerful than you will ever be. Bring it"

-La'Dawn

You're not as bad as you seem.

-Mariah Watson

BYE! You’ve lived here long enough!

I'm stronger than you could ever imagine!

My God is greater and he has not giving me a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. Fear is only False| Evidence| Appearing| Real

What the hell ate you looking at? My mama said nothing beats a failure but a try, so carry on fear I am not scared of you!

-SheltonShorts

I would say you no longer have dominion over me. Often times I let my fears stifle my growth. Fears of what other people may think, fears of not being good enough, fears of failing. But I’m learning that if not me, who? If not now, when? I know my worth and what I can bring to table in order to make the world better, so it’s time I face my fears and be my true self. “You fail and then what? Life goes on. It’s only when you risk failure that you discover things.” -Lupita Nyong’o

Being a self-publish author, making money isn’t as important to me than having people read my work. If I had all the riches in the world I’d give my work out for free just to know that there is someone out there who would appreciate it. Most importantly I wanted my family and friends to love my work like I do. BUT after self-publishing my 2nd book, it hit me HARD that I didn’t have the support from many people I expected to have support from. It taught me not to expect. Besides my loyal and faithful few, a lot of the people who supported me were people from back in the day, people I least expected or people I didn’t even know. Did it hurt? Absolutely! But the responses and feedback I got from those who did support me made me want to keep going. Self-publishing is scary because you just don’t know. You don’t know who will support you, you don’t know what kind of feedback you’d get, you don’t know how many sales you’d make (so it’s always a limbo on how many copies I should order to sell), the list goes on. One thing I can say is that when I look on my bookshelf and see my name written on books, it erases all fears and doubts. It makes me proud of myself. Proud that I didn't let the unknown win. What's been your experience?

I asked some of the dopest women that I know this question and this was their response...

It means to respect my sisters, protect my sisters, motivate my sisters & honor our bonds.

-Nicky Collington

Girl code means looking out for your girl, sticking together, and not crossing boundaries that may offend the other. It's all an unspoken code. I got your back and you got mine.

-Wayna

Girl code is what makes or breaks any friendship! Certain rules just shouldn’t be broken.

-Deborah II

Girl code to me is empowerment lifting each other up in tough times. Holding each other accountable. Supporting each other.

-Colleen Williams-Forbes

It means loyalty, dedication, love, respect, diversity, friendship, forever

-JRob

I think girl code comes with a lot of barriers and requires a lot maturity. I think as a woman, you have to be mature, honest, and open enough to navigate your friend group while maintaining your own sense of self. For me, it's about being there in the dark times and the good times as well and having the level of respect needed to grow with one another and as individuals.

-La'Dawn

Girl code means being real with one another, Mistakes happen but no matter what women should stick together.

-Mariah Watson

Girl code means not betraying a friend over something minuscule. Whether we are girls or not anymore your secrets are safe with me. Girl code also means 100% honesty at all times.

-Jenice

What girl code means to me is being a positive influence to girls and women. Having trust, respect, honesty and loyalty to my girls and women friendships.

-Nerrissa J.Sherrills

It means that we build each other up with love and support. We do not dim another woman's light...ever. I am my sister's keeper.

-this_is_me_cv

To me girl code is sister hood, it's supporting one another and empowering one another to be our best selves.

-Yvette Benjamin

A United Front...Representing for girls, for women. Standing together. Fixing each other’s crown...

-Gia

Girl code to me means, sisterhood, boundaries, honesty and trust

-SheltonShorts

Girl code is defined as an unwritten set of ethical rules between a girl and her best friends. To me it’s a sisterhood that women share in order to protect each other’s feelings, to ensure each other’s safety, to bond, and to hold each other accountable in certain situations. It means a lot to me because I value boundaries and I always consider people’s feelings. Especially people who I respect and hold close to my heart. Girl code also means expressing your thoughts on a situation tactfully with the expectation that your friend will listen, be truthful with you and not intentionally hurt you. It may seem like women don’t adhere to girl code anymore because of the lifestyles social media hypes up but the the real women stick by it and communicate with each other before and even after things may go left.
